We are delighted to share further details about our exciting Boat Naming and Celebration of KGS Rowing Event, taking place at KGS on Saturday, 13th September.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the sad passing of one of our most renowned alumni, RC Sherriff. In his honour, the school, together with the Sheriff Club, has purchased a collection of new boats. We warmly invite you to join us at the Boat House to celebrate this special occasion and enjoy a BBQ with fellow alumni and friends.
Our new Director of Rowing, James Cracknell (OLY)—a proud former Kingstonian—will oversee the event. The day begins at 3:00pm with an optional tour of the Boat House and Ditton Field. The BBQ will start at 4:00pm, followed by the official boat naming ceremony at 4:30pm. The celebration will continue until around 7:00pm. For those wishing to extend the festivities, we have arranged a dinner at the Albany Pub next door, priced at £45 per head.
Thank you to everyone who has already expressed interest in attending. We also understand that some of you may be keen to get back in a boat and row again! We are looking into the feasibility of this, so if you would like to participate, please contact Anna Lewis Monsma on alumni@kgs.org.uk so we can organise crews and make the necessary arrangements.
We appreciate that many of you may be travelling considerable distances to join us, and we are very grateful for your support. If we can assist you with travel plans or any other KGS-related activities, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
