I'm wondering if this triggers a memory for any of you. Are you here? I'm the idiot with three stripes on his arm, standing behind Captain Richardson. A couple of years later I was called up for National Service (R.A.S.C., Willems Barracks, Aldershot) where in due course, for my sins, I terrorised new recruits as a Drill Sergeant. Now retired after 32 years in River Pollution Control, then voluntary redundancy,and a further 32 years as a part-time rural School Transport Driver; what you might call a symmetrical dual career.
